In 2017 Chelmarsh Ringing Group had a total of 2994 ringed birds.
At Chelmarsh itself 1839 birds were rung of 46 species. Most common was Chiffchaff (252) followed by Blue Tit (222), Reed Warbler (221) and Reed Bunting (219). Of note, there were good Sedge Warbler numbers (125) and Bullfinch (49).
On Clee Hill Stonechat numbers were excellent with 350 birds recorded overall. Wheatear were very disappointing with just 3 resighted birds.

Joe and Stuart continued to remove goat willow from the scrape. Dave and Clare put hedge nets up.

Nuthatch 2; Blue Tit 20; Coal Tit 1; Great Tit 4; Great-Spotted Woodpecker 2; Chaffinch 2; Long-tailed Tit 5; Reed Bunting 1
Total - 37 birds

James' expertise provided for a great evening with lots of birds roosting in furrows / stubble. Four birds were caught and ringed - Redwing, Fieldfare and then two ringing ticks for Stuart: Skylark and Woodcock. Also seen, nearly caught, Yellowhammer.
