We caught 118 birds, which beats the low 90s best ever for a CES session, as well as being more than double the equivalent for previous years : 2016: 51, 2015: 56, 2014: 31

Total of 19 species ...
Also seen: Lapwing, Oystercatcher, Grey Heron, 1 Green Sandpiper (in new pool in reedbed)

CES 5 - excellent warbler catch
Sunday 18th June 2017:

Hottest day of the year forecast - 30C+, started 13C and sun soon up. However, catch not as seriously affected as feared - best numbers for CES 5 in past 4 years:
Blackcap 2/0, Chiffchaff 8/0, Sedge Warbler 5/3, Whitethroat 5/0, Reed Warbler 16/2, Blue Tit 15/0, Goldfinch 1/0, Wren 1/0, Garden Warbler 1/0, Blackbird 2/0, Great Tit 3/0, Robin 2/1, Dunnock 3/0, Linnet 1/0
Total caught: 71 birds ( 2016: 56, 2015: 27, 2014: 43)
Also seen or heard: Grey Heron, Green Woodpecker, Jay, Song Thrush, Yellowhammer, Lapwing, Oystercatcher, Swallow

Calm start to morning, but sunny and breezy by 9.30am ...

Juveniles caught for Whitethroat, Robin, Chiffchaff, Blue Tit and Long-tailed Tit
Total: 49 birds (cf 2016: 43, 2015: 49, 2014: 28)
Also seen / heard: Cuckoo, Lapwing (1 juv), Oystercatcher 2adult, 2 juv, Green Woodpecker, Swallow, Yellowhammer, Linnet
