CES 8 Good variety, including Grasshopper Warbler, but low-ish numbers

Saturday 18th July 2015: Dave, Linda, Stuart.  Calm, sunny start, but as forecast, wind strengthened to the point of stopping half an hour early.

Birds caught:  Sedge Warbler 2(3), Dunnock 1(3), Blackcap 1(1), Chiffchaff 2, Willow Warbler 1, Reed Warbler 5(9), Reed Bunting 1, Robin 1(1), Wren 2, Grasshopper Warbler 1, Whitethroat 1, Blackbird 0(1), Song Thrush 1, Bullfinch 0(1), Garden Warbler 0(1)



Total 39 birds

Also seen:  1 Merlin early on, 5 Green Sandpipers, 1 Green Woodpecker, 2 Linnet

CES 7 - lots of young birds about

Saturday 11th July 2015:

Dave, Linda and Stuart - set up in near perfect conditions with no wind and cloud cover soon after a clear and sunny start.

59 birds caught in total, plus a Chaffinch that was released due to the state of its legs.

Chiffchaff 16(0),  Whitethroat 4(0), Reed Bunting 1(0), Blackcap 3(0), Reed Warbler 7(2), Wren 6(0), Garden Warbler 1(0), Treecreeper 1(0), Blue Tit 5, Sedge Warbler 1(1), Long-tailed Tit 2(3), Great Tit 1(0), Robin 2(0),  Dunnock 2(0), Blackbird 1(0)

Also about:  Little R-P, Lapwing, Green Sandpiper, Green Woodpecker, Kingfisher, possible call in distance of a Little Owl ?

CES 6 - good variety, and some young birds about

Friday 3rd June 2015

Stu & Dave - a misty 5am start - but still and sunny once cleared.

General thought was not too many young about in the reed-bed.  A few waders - Oystercatcher, Lapwing and 1 Green Sandpiper.

Birds caught totalled 46 in CES & a young Lapwing

Great Tit 2(0), Reed Warbler 5(4), Blue Tit 10(2), Chiffchaff 3, Dunnock 1(1), Garden Warbler 1 (1), Lesser Whitethroat 1, Willow Warbler 2, Sedge Warbler 0(2), Wren 3,  Blackcap 2, Whitethroat 4,  Robin 1, Reed Bunting 1

CES 5 worryingly quiet?

Sunday 14th June 2015:

Linda and Stuart - conditions sunnier than expected, so perhaps conditions had a bearing on low numbers caught, but some concern expressed re. Warbler numbers from Tony ...

CES 4: A lot of Lottis

Sunday 7th June 2015:

Joe, Linda, Stuart.  Sunny, cool, calm early, breeze increasing through morning.

Family of Long Tailed Tits in Net 1 - 18 in total!

Overall 49 birds.

CES 2 : Reed Warblers in reasonable numbers

Sunday 17th May 2015:

Nets set up quickly with a full team of Dave, Joe, Linda & Stuart. Joined by Miles.
Good conditions, but cold and few birds singing or moving - quiet.

Totals:  Dunnock 4 (2),  Sedge Warbler 1 (2), Reed Warbler 5 (7), Chiffchaff 2, Wren 0 (3), Reed Bunting 1 (1), Song Thrush 1, Blackcap 1, Blackbird 1
