Sunday 25th January 2015 :
Linda and I set the net in the main bird hide pool, hoping to catch Reed Buntings coming into roost. A few small flocks of Starlings became a very large flock ( c 600-700 birds ) which treated us to aerial displays before diving into the reeds. Lots of noise, and excitement as we approached the net, expecting a large catch ... not to be !
Birds ringed : Reed Bunting 9, Starling 1
Tremendous birding, terrible ringing !
Other birds seen : Sparrowhawk, Tawny Owl

Unfortunately didn't lure winter thrushes, nor redpoll. The Reed Bunting / Pied Wagtail roost has been cut back too much to work.
Other birds about: Goldcrest, Pied Wagtail, Grey Wagtail

Ringing demonstration at Severn Valley Country Park
A bit chilly ! Some young visitors to the park with part of the day observing some birds up close - sadly not much to offer other than Blue Tits, Great Tits and a single Long-tailed Tit.

Tawny Owl and Kingfisher make all the Blue Tits worthwhile at Severn Valley Country Park
Sunday 15th January 2012:
Linda and I put up usual net by feeders and a short net in reed bed for roost. Lures for Thrushes and Pied Wagtail - first failed, latter worked but birds entered other end of bed from where net had been placed.
Catch was 17 Blue Tit, 1 Great Tit, 2 Dunnock, 7 Reed Bunting, 1 Kingfisher and, after dark, 1 superb Tawny Owl ( a ringing tick for me ! ).
