After a week of almost non-stop rain, fortunate to get this catch in - it poured at finish time.

CES4 Record catch - lots of juvenile birds - mainly Blue Tits!

A brief break in very wet weather allowed us to go ahead.

Birds caught:

Sedge Warbler 3/5,  Wren 0/5,  Reed Warbler 10/5,  Reed Bunting 1/1,  Chiffchaff 5/0, (all juveniles),  Blue Tit 23/2 (mainly juveniles),  Dunnock 1/1,  Goldcrest 1/0 (juvenile),  Garden Warbler 2/0 (juveniles),  Great Tit 1/1,  Blackcap 2/0,  Goldfinch 0/1

After a couple of postponed dates, the weather was good enough to proceed - though cold.

CES 2 - Reed Warbler from 2010 still going strong!

Reed Warbler L123225 was first ringed as a juvenile in July 2010.
It has been controlled in 2011, 2014, 2016 and twice in 2018.


CES 2 - cold start, but some good warblers

Cold and frosty start - nets put up overnight frozen.  Then sun shining on nets - not optimal.

Weather perfect - cool, light drizzle at times.  Steady catching in two nets.

Totals:  123 birds before rain came on heavy

72 House Martins, 24 Sand Martins,  27 Swallows
